Batumi Art-House filmfest to screen Iranian films

The Batumi Int’l Art-House Film Festival in Georgia is to screen 3 Iranian films.

The 2017 edition of the Batumi Int’l Art-House Film Festival (BIAFF) in Georgia has scheduled to screen three Iranian films.

Two of them, ‘A Man of Integrity’ directed by Mohammad Rasoulof and ‘Take Off’ directed by Ehsan Abdipour are selected to vie at the main competition section of the event in September.

The Iranian features will compete with films from Poland, Turkey, Georgia, Ukraine, Russia, Hungary and England.

‘A Man of Integrity’ tells the story of a goldfish farmer who is battling a commercial oppression in northern Iran.

‘Take Off’ is about Shirzad, a young adventurous man whose life has taken an unexpected twist after a night out and the following unpredictable events.

Iranian short film ‘Retouch’ directed by Kaveh Mazaheri is also scheduled to go on screen at the Georgian event.

Produced by the Iranian Young Cinema Society, ‘Retouch’ is about a young woman whose husband dies before her eyes and she just observes the tragic scene. It has so far succeeded to compete at 10 Oscar Academy honored festivals.

BIAFF provides an opportunity for well known film makers, producers and film critics to meet and share their expertise and works with other people in their respective fields and gives local cinema lovers and other individuals a better understanding of the industry and its people through retrospectives.

The event, designed to enhance worldwide cultural exchange, understanding and collaboration, is slated for September 17-24, 2017.
